2009 HOSPITAL ACTIVITY REPORT

In 2009, there were 285 deceased organ donors in the greater New York metropolitan area compared with 251 in 2008, an increase of 14 percent. A total of 740 organs were transplanted in 2009, with 682 patients receiving life-saving organ transplants.

The number of tissue and eye donors in the greater New York metropolitan area rose 8 percent to an all-time high of 754 in 2009. The previous highest number of tissue and eye donors was 699 in 2008.
