Currently in the greater New York metropolitan area, approximately 7,000 patients are awaiting life-saving organ transplants. Yet, on an annual basis, the number of deceased donors in our region is measured in the low hundreds, rather than thousands.
Each day on average, 18 patients die in the United States because no organ could be found for them. Every 13 minutes, another name is added to the waiting list.
Thousands of patients also need life-saving and life-improving tissue transplants, including eyes, corneas, skin, bone and heart valves.
With your financial support, we can reach across our region's diverse populations and explain the donation process. With your generous help, we can encourage all New Yorkers over the age of 18 to enroll in the New York State Donate Life Registry.
Thanks to your help, we will be able to achieve our mission, to increase the number of people who say "yes" to organ, eye and tissue donation.
Thank you so much.
